Is there a Home Remedy for Bronchitis?
Bronchitis can be a viral or bacteria infection. It is very important you visit your doctor to determine whether you have the viral or bacterial infection. While home remedies are great for reducing symptoms for a viral infection, you will need medication to kill the harmful pathogens from a bacterial infection.
Symptoms of bronchitis:
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Wheezing
- Expectorant cough
- Shortness of breath
The wheezing and shortness of breath are due to a blockage in the airways that is caused by mucus.
Home remedies for bronchitis:
- Fasting on orange juice and water and then an all fruit diet for three days after symptoms disappear will help in acute bronchitis. In chronic bronchitis, you should begin an all fruit diet for five to seven days of three meals a day. After the all fruit diet, a well balanced diet is essential for optimum health. Be sure to include seeds, nuts, grains, raw vegetables and fresh fruits. Drink only unsweetened lemon water or water.
- Take a hot Epsom salts bath every night during the acute stages of the attack. Dissolve 1½kg of Epsom salt in 60 liters of water with a temperature of 37.8 degrees C. Stay immersed in the bath for twenty minutes. Take the bath twice a week in chronic cases of bronchitis.
- Take a morning walk every morning.
Try these home remedies, but make sure you do not have bacterial bronchitis. A trip to the doctor to determine this is essential.
